2008 NEW ENGLAND BOOK FESTIVAL NAMES WINNERS

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (December 14, 2008) _ The 2008 New England Book Festival has named Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency by Barton Gellman as the winner of its annual competition honoring the best books of the holiday season.

The book, an expansion of a Washington Post series, looks at the White House reign Dick Cheney, a man who redefined the vice presidency to a never-before-seen level of influence that ranged from war, the economy, the environment and the law. Gellman parts the curtains of secrecy surrounding Cheney in documentary fashion to show how the vice president operated and what he wrought.
