2013 NEW ENGLAND BOOK FESTIVAL SCHEDULE
The New England Book Festival is holding a FREE and open to the public
daytime book fair and publishing seminar on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from noon
to 5 p.m. at the Omni Parker House Hotel, 60 School Street in Boston,
02108.
The seminar is focused on developments in the fast-changing world of independent
and mainstream book publishing, and anyone with an interest in the field is
urged to attend. Authors and publishers will be exhibiting their works and we
will have special readings scheduled throughout the day.
In addition to the panels, readings and presentations, we will have a special
“Drinks with the Author” exhibition area. Buy a book, enjoy a free cocktail of
your choosing with your favorite author!
FESTIVAL PANELS/PRESENTATIONS SCHEDULE
12:00-12:30 “More Than Just a Book – Why What Authors Do Matters More Than We
Know” – John Brubaker, author, “Seeds of Success” – Everyone should write a
book about their journey. To both honor their mentors and help other people move
forward in their lives. A talk about how one author came to that realization.
1:15-2:30 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Publishing – Jonathan Womack,
author, “Old Souls,” and publisher of Charles River Press discusses his
day-to-day activities on both sides of the desk.
2:30-3:00 “The Author as Historian – The desire for and the need for
historical accuracy in fiction.” Edward Eaton, author of “Hector and
Achilles.”
3:00-4:00 The Future of Books – The rise of ebooks, the shrinking retail
scene, the consolidation of big publishing and the explosion of the online
world. A discussion on where publishing is heading and how you can leverage
these developments.
